Dear Fellow Hwa Chong Junior College Alumnus
FUND RAISING FOR BURSARIES
Every year for the last 13 years, the Hwa Chong Junior College Alumni has been providing bursaries for our needy students. To date we have provided a few hundred bursaries to our students. Each of these bursaries ranges from $500 to $1000. Each recipient has met the college's criteria and is deserving of the assistance.
A typical profile of our recipient would be someone whose family monthly income is $4,000 or less. Given the high cost of living in Singapore, it would be difficult for our student to maintain a minimum standard of living.
We want our students to be able to concentrate on their studies and not to be besieged by constant worries of how to make ends meet. We know students that come to Hwa Chong have admirably high academic standards and we would want them to exploit their potential to the fullest.
This year we have decided to raise the money from former students. As former students we have enjoyed two fulfilling years at the college. Many of us have fond memories of the college, the lifelong friends we made as well as the culture and values that we imbibed during those years.
The target of our fund raising exercise is $200, 000. Donations can be made via check, cash, or the internet through Paypal (either through your Paypal account or with your credit cards). Tax Deductible Receipts will be issued to donations of $100 and above.
For check donations, please make check in favor of Hwa Chong Institution. Please write, at the back of the check, your name, NRIC, contact number and address if this is a personal donation. For donation through your organization, please write the organization name, UEN, contact number and address. Do also state that it is for the HCJC Alumni Bursary Fund.
